Measurement of hip endoprotheses
The analysis of the bone mineral content around an artificial hip joint can possibly be used in the course of a decision as to whether a prosthesis loosening is present. However, this evaluation is still a field of research and by no means a daily routine.
However, the examination allows conclusions to be drawn about the bony situation around the artificial joint, particularly in the course of several measurements (progress of bony installation in cementless prostheses, periprosthetic decalcification as an indication of possible loosening).
